Changing Line Tag Number in AutoCAD 3D 2012

I would like to change a line tag number for one continuous line route (including components and fittings, and valves).

The Software only allows me if I am going to select each component/fittings/valves/etc one by one, then go to the "Properties" and change the line tag number from there.

But in doing so, it always come with an error. Error in the sense that not ALL the components are replaced by the new tag number, i.e. gaskets. And what's really annoying is that, to solve this issue, I have to re-model the whole line route again.

Even in doing so, it's not even solving the issue. So, what I want to ask now is: Is there a command to select the whole line route and highlight everything that is included in that line route, and at the same time, give you a selection to edit its properties?
