AutoCAD LT to JPEG

by Lou Graf

I need to convert drawings in AutoCAD LT to JPEG. Is there an easy way to do it, or do I need additional software?

Answer

It's been a while since I've used AutoCAD LT, so maybe some others can chime in here if I'm way off base.

In AutoCAD you can choose to plot to a .jpg file in the plot device drop down menu.

Not sure if your version of AutoCAD LT has this or not, but worth a check in the plot settings.

If not, you could always plot to a PDF file, using this
free DWG to PDF software
and then use something like the free trial of ACDSee to convert from a PDF to JPEG. Although that does seem like a lot of work.

There is also a file conversion service (free and paid) at http://www.zamzar.com where you upload the drawing file(s) up to 100 MB, choose your desired output file type, enter your e-mail address, and they will send it to you once converted.

I can't personally attest to their service (although I did upload a file for conversion and am still waiting for it to be e-mailed to me)  but it might be worth a try.

Maybe others can chime in here...

AutoCAD LT Drawing Converted to JPEG
by: Anonymous

Ok, I received the AutoCAD drawing conversion back from Zamzar (it took about 10 to 15 minutes from the time I sent it) and it looks pretty good.

Although the original file size was 176 KB and the JPEG came back close to 4 MB.

I could always resize it to make it smaller if I had to.

One thing I want to mention is that if you want a white background on your JPEG, make sure your AutoCAD background screen color is set to white before sending the file.

Mine came back with a black background because I forgot to change it to white.

Similarly, when plotting from AutoCAD to a JPEG file, change the screen background to white.
