Drawing file display

When you first open AutoCAD, click on the icon in the upper left corner, then go to the "open" folder icon, it is supposed to take you to a dialogue box similar to windows explorer. Mine takes me to a single line, asking for a file name where I have to type the Tilde key to get the dialogue box.

How do I get it back to where the dialogue box comes up?
Thanks in advance.
