Drawing in scale, PDF printing & measuring scale with ruler

I'm drawing a plot plan 1' = 20' on 17" x 11", saving in PDF on 17" x 11" and emailing.

When printed they measure using a ruler and the scale is off.

What am I doing wrong?

I am assuming you are plotting from a Paper Space viewport?

If not, you should as it will make things easier.

Check your Page Setup settings to be sure your scale is set to 1:1.

Are you using the DWG to PDF.pc3 driver or a separate Adobe installed driver?

I have found I have less problem when using AutoCAD's DWG to PDF.pc3 driver.

Also, be sure your viewport is set to a scale of 1"=20', which should be the same as 1:240 (20x12=240).

Then test plot an area on your own printer to verify the scale before emailing.
