Changing Associative Dimensions to Nonassociative

by Nick
(Pittsburgh, PA)

I am working on an older existing AutoCAD drawing, now in AutoCAD Mechanical 2011.

When I erase one dimension in the middle of a row/stack of dimensions, all the existing dimensions snap down into the erased gap.

Do you know how to make it stop doing this?

I want to throw up on this drawing.

I can’t find anything in the existing dimstyles.
Thanks!

Disassociating Dims
by: Joe

Hi Nick,

I can feel your frustration ;)

What you need to do is to use the DIMDISASSOCIATE command and select all your currently associative dimensions.

If you have a mix of associative and nonassociative dimensions in your drawing, I would use the QSELECT command to filter them out, then change them all in one swoop.

Hope this helps! Joe
